January 25, 2012 – We are pleased to welcome new members Chris and Leslie Schultz to our club. Many of you are customers of their 'Schultz Electric Train Layout & Hobbies' business at the Fairgrounds Train Shows. They carry a large line of 'G Scale' and other railroad items and can be reached in Dayton, Ohio at 937-299-4011 or Lionnut58@aol.com . They are also planning to open a complete line Hobby Shop in Dayton in the near future.

January 9, 2012 – Second UPDATE – It was a great show – and Mel was back! I will post my photos shortly.

January 7, 2012 – UPDATE – Went to the Show today and saw the biggest crowd ever at a Fairgrounds Train Show AND the biggest ILSR module display I've ever seen. If you get a chance, GO!

January 1, 2012 – Although there have been some great train shows at the Indiana State Fairgrounds in recent months, coming this weekend, January 7 – 8, 2012 is an event only seen here every 5 to 10 years, the 'World's Greatest Hobby on Tour'. It fills 100,000 sq. ft. with 200 booths, including many rail hobby manufacturers showing new products, 20 operating railroads (including the ILSR Modular Group), free rides on a 'Thomas' train for the little ones, DCC trains for the adults to try and a lot more. Don't miss it!

December 30, 2011 – UPDATE – Earlier this year, the ILSR Board voted to create a Youth Grant Program in order to encourage more active participation by young folks interested in our hobby of Large Scale Railroading. The first result of the Program was the presentation of a Large Scale Starter Set to Brandon Carney at the recent Indiana State Fairgrounds Great Train Expo. The note below from Brandon's mother clearly identifies the success of the Program. Sandi also sent along pictures - posted HERE.

A Christmas Story

December 24, 2011 – Brandon is very excited about his train set!! It is set up in the living room under the Christmas tree. He plays with it almost all the time. He loves it and is very thankful to all of you! I think he is just as excited to see, and talk, to all the nice people he has made friends with by being in this train club. Thank you all for being so kind to him!!! It means so much to me! And a Big Thank You to Ron for giving his modules to Brandon. He absolutely loves being at the train shows, and is so proud of those modules!!! I can't give enough thanks to all of you! You are all such wonderful people!!

ILSR Modular Group at the Fairgrounds

December 14, 2011 – The ILSR Modular Group will be set up for the Great Train Expo Show this weekend, December 17 and 18, 2011. If you would like help setup, as the Module Chief says 'Load them up, and head to the Fairgrounds at noon Fri. Dec 16. See you all there. Mel' – UPDATE – December 17, 2011 – I am sorry to report that Mel fell while loading his modules and suffered a concussion. He did not make it to the show – we wish him a speedy recovery.

The Path to Fame and Glory

December 1, 2011 – As I hope you are aware, on Saturday July 14, 2012, your club will be hosting four clubs that will come to our area to tour several of our member's layouts. Before the tour, we will host a lunch with some special exhibits. One exhibit will be a slide show. This is an opportunity for you to help and to become recognized for your model railroad skills at the same time. We need high resolution pictures of your layout, train collection or other related items. Please send them to your friendly webmaster and I will assimilate them for Ron Loudermilk to magically turn them into a slide show. Dan Perrott will set up the show equipment.
