The Winter Newsletter is uploaded for your enjoyment. Bud takes us down memory lane (rails?) of past club events to tackle why the (G scale) hobby isn’t derailed, part I of Sean’s trolley project, and more!
First up is a reminder from James about the Franklin show:
Okay guys, one week from today is set up time. They have the set-up time starting at 3:00pm on Friday. We should meet at the Fairgrounds at 2:30pm so we can get pre-staged and ready. Plus, we might be able to sneak in a little early. From talking to Michael Roderick before, the building I believe we will be at is the Fitzpatrick hall. Easy to see and get to from the south entrance of the fairgrounds. We need to meet at the back of that building and I will have our final info at that time. All of you bringing trains to run, remember we are only setting up a 30 x 20 and no yard. So, it would be best to not run a 40 or 50 car freight train. This will be the smallest set up we have ever done for a show. As always, please let me know if and when you will be able to help with set up and tear down. You can email me and call or text.
Thanks, James H. Driesbach – mgc
Those looking to carpool to EnterTrainment Junction, are encouraged to meet at Castleton Christian Church. Address is 7214 Hague Road Indianapolis at 9:00am. If not, plan to meet at EnterTrainment around 11:00am.
Our next show is in Upland June 10th, set up on Friday the 9th. Then we will be in Franklin Indiana for the NMRA show August 5th and 6th, set up on Friday the 4th. After that we will be in Lebanon for the Back to the fifty’s festival September 16th, set up on Thursday and or Friday 14th and 15th.
Greetings to all Indiana Larger Scale Railroaders. The winter months make difficult to do a lot with Garden Railroads in Indiana. So if your needing some model railroading time you may want to check this out. The Great Train Show is at the Indiana State Fairgrounds, Saturday February 12, 10AM – 4PM and Sunday February 13, 10AM – 4PM. Our Modular Railroad group will also have the ILSR modular layout set-up. So if you have some free time you may want to make a trip out to the State Fairgrounds. If you are interested in helping set-up the modular layout contact James Driesbach, the set-up will begin on Friday if you are interested.
I look forward seeing you this Spring as we start events for the season with our Spring Banquet – information will be available in our April Newsletter.
2021 is here and it’s time to get the trains out. The spring newsletter has been added to the website and more importantly, the events calendar is posted. The first two major events are in June are bound to be fun. Starting with Strawberries at the Upland Strawberry Festival where the modular layout is set to be set up. Then Randy and Jacquie Banks are hoasting an open house to show off their beautiful garden and layout. You won’t want to miss it!
Speaking of the modular layout, James has scheduled a meeting to prepare in May. All club members are welcome to attend.
The rest of the schedule still has details being ironed out, so be sure to watch the Events page for updates.
Another great year was had by all at the Great Train Show in Indianapolis, IN this past weekend. Posted are a few photos from the display. Club members from all around ran a dozen or so trains each day. Our fearless leader, James, was interviewed for some show promotion on WISHTV. Attached are some photos from Bud Hunter, Spencer Spurlock, and myself. If you have photos to share, contact me.
