The Sparrow Flats Railroad was started in 2003 as a small oval of track and small flower bed. After a few years of trial and error, this railroad has evolved into a beautiful and fun to watch layout with plenty of trestle work and an inviting water pond. The name Sparrow Flats Railroad was chosen because of a fond memory from a 2006 trip to Russia to the elite neighborhood of Sparrow Hills in Moscow. Continue reading

The first phase of the J.A.M.A. Railroad, named after our four grandchildren, Jesse, Abi, Michael and Audrey, was the completion of the freight line. The inaugural run was on October 20th, 2004. Passenger service was added and the first passengers boarded on June 14th, 2007. Continue reading

The First Official “Rail Raising” Project
While it is certainly common for ILSR members to lend a hand when a fellow member needs help with his layout, having an official work session, with several members helping, is a first. Lance and Vickie Brock have a beautifully landscaped yard with a wide variety of plants, rocks, flowing water and bridges. A “moving feature” seemed like a great addition to the garden so they joined the ILSR to learn more about garden railroads. Continue reading
