Steve & Sharon Sever

The Bedeutend Railroad

June 26, 2010 Open House – Indiana Large Scale Railroaders Club

A Little Bit of Germany in Right There in Waldron, Indiana

German trains, German structures, German people and even German automobiles! Steve and Sharon Sever have a layout that obviously reflects their interests and friendships in Germany. The Sever's had a business of selling herbs at one time and the layout was started as a way to entertain customer's children while mom and dad were buying herbs. The layout grew from that beginning and today is 400 feet of track with multiple train control.

The layout is beautifully landscaped and creates a very realistic effect as the 4 trains operating disappear in and out of the trees, tunnels and behind the mountain. One train climbs a very steep grade up the mountain on a functioning rack system.

Come along on a fantastic ride through Germany.

Above – Many thanks to Steve and Sharon for an excellent open house, particularly considering a heat index of close to 100 degrees. Steve, who has faced some serious physical challenges recently, stayed right on the spot, running trains and answering questions all afternoon. David Palmeter Photo – June 2010

Steve's experience and knowledge, along with Sharon's hospitality, made for an outstanding day! Thanks again!

Steve Sever of Waldron, Indiana passed away November 28, 2012 at the age of 72. Steve and his wife Sharon have been ILSR Club Members since 2006 and have hosted two Open Houses for our Club. Steve previously had both Lionel and HO Trains, but when he and Sharon attended the Ameriflora Show in Columbus, Ohio in 1994, Steve saw a his first Garden Railroad and told Sharon “That’s something I’d like to do”. He made his dream come true.

The ILSR will miss a great person and an inspirational modeler. Godspeed, Steve.
