Danville Train Show

The Modular Layout is planning to be set up at the Danville Train Show presented by Central Indiana Division of the National Model Railroad Association.

Details from the organizers:

This has become a very popular and busy Train Show with a great facility, loads of dealers, layout displays, clinics and more.  We are adding even more space in the building for the train show.  This will allow for more dealers and more operating train displays.  Come see how we are growing this show. The schedule is 10 AM to 3 PM (like all our shows).

This event is held in the Hendricks County Fairgrounds facility located on old Highway #36 at 200 E.

Rick & Marty Fair 2021 Open House

August is always hot and humid weather wise, so ideally we would want to schedule a railroad open house venue with as much shade as possible. Rick and Marty Fair’s garden railroad features almost total shade and lots of railroading activity to enjoy. Rick supervised the train operations while Marty supervised being hostess with plenty of chairs to sit down and enjoy conversation, ice tea, lemonade – plus a huge variety of tasty breads.

Rick’s main railroad features 3 mainlines curving around through bridges, tunnels and various trees and bushes. Both steam and diesel locomotives are in use. There is also A “pondless waterfall” railroad that loops itself around this waterfalls and can be rather spellbinding to watch in and of itself. For those folks that enjoy interurbans and trolley cars, there is one of these to watch as well that automatically reverses itself at each end of the Line. Thank you Rick and Marty for hosting our August event in your lovely, shaded side and back yard. – Bud

Club Picnic at Brownsburg

Our July Club Picnic was held on July 10 at the Corner Stone Christian Church in Brownsburg. A huge thank you to Dave and Marilyn Wheelock for making the arrangements and securing the large shelter house for our use. Everyone enjoyed hamburgers, cheeseburgers and hot-dogs grilled by skilled grill-masters Marshall McConnell, John Buckner and Dave Wheelock. Randy and Jacquie Banks took care of securing over a dozen raffle prizes. Thanks also to Bill Duncan and Kyle Draper for setting up two large ovals of track to operate several trains during and after the picnic.

Perhaps best of all, we had 26 Club Members turn out for this picnic event, including several newer members of our club. Bob Gottschalk (Lebanon); Brandon, Irene and son Theo Reizman (Plainfield); Jess and Nancy Wadle (Zionsville). Getting to know one another is an important element of any successful Club, and I think we certainly demonstrated that this day. Thanks everybody! – Bud
