August 15, 2012 – Since the Banks have their self-described "whimsical" layout in top running order because of all the hard work they did for the Four Club Tour, and, since many of you were working hard to put on the Four Club Tour and didn't get to visit the layouts, Randy and Jacquie have graciously consented to have an open house on Saturday September 22, 2012 starting at 2 pm. A lot has been added and upgraded since their last open house, you don't want to miss it!

Entertrainment Junction
August 15, 2012 – Last Saturday, August 11, 2012, eight ILSR members visited Entertrainment Junction north of Cincinnati. The program of continual improvement means that there is always a lot to see that is new. It was the first time that most of us had seen the on-site hobby shop; it was an excellent G-Scale shop with many other items also. Many areas of the train layout have been improved and a G-Scale amusement park is being added on the second level.
After the EJ tour, some of us visited the beautiful Cincinnati Union Terminal for a railroad memorabilia show and sale. We also toured Tower A to watch the busy rail yard next to CUT. Excellent trip! Thanks, James.
Club Meeting at Watts
August 15, 2012 – Our Program Chairman has arranged a meeting at Watts for Saturday October 27, 2012 shopping and comments from Dave Watts at 1 pm, club meeting at 2pm. If your culinary or shopping skills allow, please bring a snack for the grazing table.
A Note from the Harryman’s
July 23, 2012 – It was typical of our Four Club Tour volunteers to show a great attitude as well as to demonstrate a willingness to work hard. One of the many excellent examples of both of these attributes were bus guide members Bill and Betty Harryman from Taylorville, Illinois! Yes, Illinois (about four hours from Indy), they were able to make a pre-run of their bus route while visiting the Indianapolis area and then stayed over the night before the event and the next day, also, to be sure they had the time necessary to handle their assignment. And, most important, they apparently had a good time, according the the vey nice note that they sent. Thanks again, Bill and Betty and to all the volunteers.
Great Job Folks!
July 14, 2012 – We did it! We took on a challenging, high risk event and put on a show to remember! And it was only because a lot of our members and supporters put in a lot of hours of hard work that it could happen at all. Thank you to everyone who made the ILSR 2012 Four Club Tour a great success! Also, a big thanks to the members of the Tour clubs who supported the event. David Palmeter, ILSR President 2012-2013
Welcome to New Members Bill and Virginia Duncan
July 3, 2012 – We are pleased to welcome new members Bill and Virginia Duncan from Avon, Indiana to our club. They heard about the Indiana Large Scale Railroaders from Rick at Watts Train Shop. They have an indoor layout. Glad you have joined us Bill and Virginia; we hope to see you at our upcoming events, the Four Club Tour Saturday July 14th would be a good place to start.
July/August 2012 Newsletter Now Online
June 29, 2012 – The latest club newsletter is on-line and in the mail. The 2012 Four CLub Tour is almost here and there are lots of important news items and activities to check out. Don't miss a word!
Excellent ILSR Events
June 12, 2012 – This past weekend saw a couple of great ILSR events. On Saturday June 9, the modular layout was on display at the Upland Strawberry Festival and apparently was a big hit. Thanks to all the members who hauled it to Upland, set it up, ran it and brought it home. That is quite a task and we appreciate it.
On Sunday June 10, several members traveled to the Warren Performing Arts Center and were treated to a concert played by Walter Strony on the restored Grande Barton organ from the Indiana Theatre. We then saw the 1926 silent civil war railroad movie "The General" starring Buster Keaton, accompanied by Walter on the Barton organ. Thanks, Bud, for an informative and entertaining afternoon, with a lot of laughs from Buster Keaton's antics.
And even more sad news – about a former member…..
June 10, 2012 – The Star Press – MUNCIE – Gordon Pavey, 74, passed away Friday, June 8, 2012 at his residence. Arrangements are pending at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Washington Street Chapel.
Gordon was an avid train buff and had been an active ILSR member until health problems caught up with him in recent years. We still have his spectacular layout memorialized HERE.
Our sincere sympathies to the family.
Yet More Sad News
May 31, 2012 – "I just received word from Sherron Growcock today that her husband John (members of ILSR Club since 2008) passed away April 29 of pancreatic cancer. She went on to say that John enjoyed being a part of ILSR and the open houses he went to. He looked forward to having his own open house to showcase his vision, but it was interrupted by his illness. Sherron wanted to thank us all for our friendship." – Bud Hunter
Our deepest sympathies to Sherron and the family.
