A Special Thank You

October 16, 2013 – I would like to send out a special thanks to Chris & Leslie Schultz — SCHULTZ ELECTRIC TRAIN LAYOUTS & HOBBIES —  for being there for us. They give club members great discounts and when we need help during the Great Train Expo show Chris is always eager to help. They help in donating items for our raffle at our banquets also.

THANKS : JAMES H. DRIESBACH -VP. & MODULAR GROUP – ILSR

Excellent New Modular Layout

October 14, 2013 – Fantastic job guys! I think this was our best show so far. Great big thanks to Paul Williamson and Jeff Carter for making the new inside curve trestle configuration (check the video) a reality and to Dave Beck for making us some fresh corner scenes. Thanks goes out to everyone for helping set up and tear down. Our next show is January 4th and 5th 2014. I will keep you all posted on what happens with our Dayton application request. Andy has offered to let us have a Modular group meeting at his house and I am going to take him up on that. Thanks, Andy. Once again, thanks guys.

ILSR Year End Meeting

September 28, 2013 – With the sale of Watts Train Store, and their agreement to be out of the building by November 1, 2013, we have not been able to make arrangements for the annual end-of-the-year meeting there. Instead, we have scheduled the meeting for Saturday November 16, 2013 at 2 to 5 pm at the Stony Ridge Clubhouse, 10061 Gemstone Drive, Noblesville IN 46060. We will have brief year end reports by outgoing officers and introduction of the 2014-2015 Board. Also, please plan to bring snacks for the group. Details to follow.

Fantastic Taltree Tour and a Surprise Bonus!!

July 13, 2013 – Our bus tour to Taltree was a major success for our select group of members and guests. The weather was perfect and we had excellent tour guides, including our 2012 Club Banquet speakers from Taltree, Jim Melton and Damein Gabis. After several question and answer and photo tours around the layout, after visiting the basement holding yard and workshop, after a visit to the gift shop, after chatting with the Hartland representatives and signing up for their trainset raffle and after a freshly grilled hamburger or hot dog from the Taltree staff, we still had time for a surprise visit to the Illiana Garden Railway Society's club layout at Samuelson's Garden Center, also in Valparaiso. It was another major G Scale treat!

James passed along a great big thank you to all those who attended (and, we should add, supported his considerable efforts to put on this event). Pix HERE.

Larry Shirley Has Passed Away

July 11, 2013 – We found out earlier this week from Bessie Shirley that Larry passed away April 21, 2013. The Shirley's had been very active members of the club since joining back in 1991. During the past year, Larry has been in and out of the hospital with several problems, including serious heart trouble. Our sincere condolences to Bessie and the family.

ILSR July/August 2013 Newsletter

July 7, 2013 – The July/August newsletter is online and it is outstanding! You just gotta see the ILSR MicroGarden layout at 'Orchard in Bloom' in full color. Jeff and his crew did a spectacular job with the very colorful water fountains – check it out, along with the full color 'Upland Strawberry Festival' modular group display, HERE.

ILSR 2013 Member Survey

May 29, 2013 – The ILSR Board is undertaking the task of updating the Member List information. At the same time, we would like to find out more about what direction you think that club should take in the future. A Board member will be calling you soon for this information. Thanks very much for your help, David Palmeter, ILSR President 2012/2013

ILSR May/June 2013 Newsletter

May 3, 2013 – Bud has put together a great Newsletter to kick off the 'Railroading Season'. Just a few days after our annual banquet, he has full photo coverage. Lots more to see, too! Check it all in full color HERE.
