Upland Modular Show Report

June 15, 2014 – Thank you to everyone who was able to help make this show a success. We had a great crowd and lots of compliments. I am beginning to recognize some of the locals that come around every year and several of them thanked us for being there. For some it seems to be the highlight of the festival.

One older lady I was talking to asked if we had anything running in CSX and all I had was a hopper car. I promised her that we would have a CSX locomotive running next year. She told me she has a relative she sends pictures to of CSX. Once again thanks a bunch and hope to see as many of you as possible at the church set up in July.

Sad News from Uno

Submitted on 2014/06/10 at 5:28 pm – You can add me to “The Gardens We Have Lost”. During the past few weeks I have totally dismantled my layout and we are in the process of returning that area to a small flower garden. The train layout was too much for me to maintain and this took the fun out of it. Uno Magnuson

Live Steam – From Fishers to Noblesville

April 26, 2014 – When we got back from our grandson’s baseball game early this afternoon, I heard the beautiful sound of a steam whistle in downtown Noblesville. When I got down to 8th Street just south of Conner (IN-32), the Leviathan was there. It left soon after in the unglamorous move of being towed to Fishers by an ITM diesel switcher hooked onto the south end of the consist.

However, after 45 minutes in Fishers, the real railroading began. The diesel had been uncoupled and, at 2:00 pm, the Leviathan pulled out, making all the proper steam engine sounds, with the consist behind in proper order. The final thrill of the day was seeing an 1800’s steamer arriving in downtown Noblesville – my hometown, no less, and heading on across the bridge into Forest Park, just like the good ol’ days! Outstanding!!

Switching Action on the FTRR

April 20, 2014 – The grandkids had tracked down all the Easter eggs and hit their limits on chocolate, the old(er) folks were letting a great Easter dinner settle while enjoying a fantastic day on the patio, so it was time to send FTRR Old Number 7 switcher down the line with a tank car of cooking oil for the ‘Beans ‘n Burgers Cafe’. The Ram 53 sound system was turned up about half and the rythmatic chugging added to the ambiance of a relaxing afternoon of family enjoyment. What a day!
